Two Cats and a...family

I worked with Christina and Brian a couple of years ago as they purchased a sweet condo in NW Portland. I always hope my clients are happy in their home for a very, very long time. When they got in touch with me a couple months ago, I was surprised to hear from them. Happily, the reason was because their family had grown–they had added a sweet dog to go with their pair of cats. With other changes potentially happening in the not too distant future, they decided that the time to start looking for a house was upon them.
We toured several neighborhoods, and they settled on Sellwood and Woodstock as their preferred locations. They love the walk-ability of both areas and the upside to how the neighborhoods are developing. After just a couple of weeks, they got into contract on a sweet single level ranch just a short walk to Woodstock and a quick drive to all that SE Division has to offer. The home had been lovingly cared for by the previous owner, and with oak wood floors under the carpet and a non-load bearing wall between the kitchen and living area, it was perfect for them to be able to customize their new home on a budget while pulling out some sweat equity.
The home was in fabulous condition, and we were able to negotiate in a credit for repairs to the aging supply lines which were galvanized steel plumbing. They closed on the house last week and are already underway on their home renovation.
One of the favorite areas in a home for me is the basement as I look at the “bones” of an old home. While I am in no way a home inspector, I pride myself on knowing a lot about the systems of a house from a year of schooling and being able to educate my buyers on understanding the condition of a home as much as possible before moving into contract.
Congratulations on your new home Brian and Christina, I’m thrilled for you and think this house will be a great home for you for many years to come.
